Tour overview
This amazing safari will take you to the top safari destinations in Tanzania to witness the high concentration of wildlife including lions, cheetahs, and at certain times of the year, the world-renowned “Great Wildebeest Migration”. Included in the tour are Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro Crater. Another highlight of this tour is the walking safari in Lake Eyasi to witness the lifestyle of the bush men in northern Tanzania.
Embarking on our safari adventure, we depart after a hearty breakfast for the captivating Tarangire National Park. A full day awaits us, dedicated to exploring the diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife of Tarangire. This park boasts nine distinct vegetation zones, adorned with the iconic Ancient Baobab trees—the largest in Africa—towering over the creatures grazing below.
The meandering Tarangire River is a lifeline for the park, drawing in a remarkable array of wildlife. From majestic elephants to regal lions, elusive leopards, sturdy buffaloes, graceful giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and a colorful assortment of birds—Tarangire is renowned for hosting Tanzania’s greatest elephant population. During our safari, we’ll have the privilege of quietly observing numerous elephant families interacting in their natural habitat.
A stop at an observatory within the park offers a picturesque setting for a picnic lunch, with views of animals quenching their thirst at the river. It’s not uncommon to witness dramatic moments such as lion encounters with a thirsty zebra or wildebeest. Continuing our game viewing, we conclude the day back at the campsite for a delightful dinner under the stars.
Our day begins with a pickup from your hotel at 8 am, setting the stage for a scenic journey across the Great Rift Valley to the enchanting Lake Manyara National Park. Despite its modest size of 205 square miles, this park is a hidden gem boasting breathtaking scenery and a rich biodiversity.
Among the park’s wonders are its lush acacia forests, towering figs, and majestic mahogany trees, providing a picturesque backdrop to encounters with giraffes, elephants, impalas, and an impressive population of buffaloes. The tranquil lake is home to a multitude of hippos, while the shores host elegant flamingos adding a splash of color.
Lake Manyara is renowned for its unique attractions, including the legendary tree-climbing lions, vibrant flamingos along the lake shore, and sightings of the majestic Ground Hornbill and the regal Crested Eagle. Our game drives along the lake offer stunning photographic opportunities with giraffes and buffaloes against the serene lake backdrop.
Optional activities for the day include a bike tour or a serene boat excursion. As the afternoon draws near, we transfer back to the camp for a well-deserved dinner and a relaxing evening.
Rising early after a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a journey towards the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. The drive itself, though long, is a feast for the senses, taking us through the crater highlands with a brief stop at the rim for an awe-inspiring view of the Ngorongoro Crater.
As we venture deeper into the Serengeti, the meaning of its name—”endless plains” in the local language—becomes apparent. Stretching across 6,900 square miles (18,000 sq. km), the park’s vast plains seem to extend endlessly to the horizon, defying our senses and perception of distance.
Home to the legendary Great Migration, the Serengeti welcomes us with a spectacle of approximately 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and a myriad of antelopes including the elegant impalas and Thomson’s gazelles.
The Serengeti is a haven for Big Cats and formidable predators, offering sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. This park has been the backdrop for numerous iconic wildlife scenes, including the famed river crossings. Smaller wonders such as foxes, mongoose, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, rock hyraxes, African hares, and over 500 bird species also call the Serengeti home.
As the sun sets over the endless plains, we retire to our camp for a satisfying dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.
