Today, we embark on a picturesque journey through the Great Rift Valley, heading towards the enchanting Lake Manyara National Park. Despite its modest size of 205 square miles, the park is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, lush acacia forests, towering figs, and majestic mahogany trees. It is also home to a burgeoning population of baboons and blue monkeys.
Among the park’s permanent residents are elegant giraffes, majestic elephants, agile impalas, and an abundance of mighty buffaloes. The tranquil lake also hosts a large hippo population. Unique to this park are its famous tree-climbing lions, the flamingos adorning the lake shore, and sightings of the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle.
The landscapes of Lake Manyara are beyond words, providing stunning photo opportunities with giraffes and buffaloes against the backdrop of the picturesque lake and its vibrant flamingos. Optional activities for the day include a bike tour or a tranquil boat excursion. In the afternoon, we transfer back to the hotel for dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.
An early start awaits us as we depart towards the world-renowned Serengeti National Park after a hearty breakfast. The journey itself is a spectacle, taking us through the crater highlands with a brief stop at the rim for an awe-inspiring view of the Ngorongoro Crater.
As we delve deeper into the Serengeti, the meaning of its name becomes apparent—”endless plains” in the local language. Encompassing a vast 6,900 square miles (18,000 sq. km), the park’s sweeping plains seem to stretch endlessly, challenging our senses and perceptions of distance. Home to the spectacular Great Migration, the Serengeti hosts approximately 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and a myriad of antelopes including the graceful impalas and Thomson’s gazelles.
The Serengeti is a haven for Big Cats and other formidable predators, offering sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and more. Countless iconic wildlife scenes, including the famed river crossings, have been captured in this remarkable landscape. Additionally, the park is teeming with smaller creatures such as foxes, mongoose, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, rock hyraxes, African hares, and boasts over 500 bird species. After an exhilarating day of game viewing, we settle in for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay.
Today, we rise early for an unforgettable morning safari, offering prime opportunities to witness active wildlife and bask in the beauty of an African sunrise. The sunrise over the Savannah is a sight to behold, truly one of nature’s most exquisite experiences.
Following our game drive, we return to camp for a hearty brunch before journeying to Ngorongoro, hailed as the 8th natural wonder of the world. With towering walls reaching 2,000 feet and a sprawling crater floor spanning 102 square miles, the Ngorongoro Crater is a veritable Noah’s Ark—a sanctuary for nearly every East African wildlife species, including the elusive black rhino.
This crater boasts the highest concentration of wildlife on the planet, offering a diverse landscape of rivers, swamps, a surreal soda lake dotted with flamingos, lush forests, and expansive plains. The legendary bull elephants of Ngorongoro, with their majestic tusks nourished by the rich volcanic soil, present an awe-inspiring sight. Our arrival in Ngorongoro in the late afternoon is met with a delightful dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.
Today marks another early start as we descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of wildlife viewing in this unparalleled setting. Following a picturesque picnic lunch near the hippo lake, we continue our wildlife exploration into the afternoon.
As the day draws to a close, we ascend the steep crater walls, bidding farewell to this natural marvel. Our journey then takes us to the serene Lake Eyasi for a delightful dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
Prepare for a unique and extraordinary day as we rise before sunrise to embark on a captivating journey to meet the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last true nomadic tribes in Africa. After gaining insights into their fascinating way of life, we join them in their daily morning activities.
This immersive experience is far from touristy, offering unparalleled photographic opportunities and a deep understanding of the Hadzabe culture. Activities with the tribe may include joining the men on a hunt or accompanying the women on a fruit-gathering expedition—both providing invaluable insights into their ancient way of life.
After our enriching time with the Hadzabe, we bid farewell and begin our journey back to Arusha or the airport, concluding an unforgettable safari filled with cherished memories and profound cultural encounters.
